If you’re looking at flashcarts for the ds i would definitely recommend this one. If you get the sd card option, it comes with the software already downloaded to it, all you have to do is put your games in the games folder and that’s it! I also heard this one doesn’t run your ds hot because it pulls less power than other flash carts. It comes with a cool extra sticker too.

I was able to get this working on my n3ds just fine. The games load up extremely quickly even on the sd card that came with it. I do recommend getting the one with the sd card because it comes with all the necessary software that can be updated if you so choose. No games included, you’ll have to load your own backups which is super easy also.

The entire experience of buying this item was spectacular, and i am now in love with the dspico. The shipping was fast with the package arriving early. The box had the dspico, a couple cool stickers you can stick on the cart, the usb cable to connect the cart to your computer, and a link to some of the clearest instructions i’ve ever gotten for any product i bought. I am a beginner at this (dspico is my first flashcart) and the instructions were so clear i hardly needed to do any outside research to set everything up. Some advice, using windows or linux (instead of macos) can save you a headache. If you only have macos it is still entirely possible to set up the microsd, it’s just annoying because the os automatically creates hidden files, but this can be corrected. It is of note this is an issue with macos, not the dspico, as i’ve seen similar issues in different contexts on this os. Everything displays well and loads quickly on my nds lite (only ds version i own). Big thanks! !

I wanted to try this cartridge to see how it compares to the r4 flash carts that are everywhere at the moment.
So far, i really enjoy the experience of using this cart. It was really easy to set up and plays every game i’ve tested flawlessly. Mine did include a micro sd card, but like most of these included cards it’s best to get your own name brand replacement. I’m currently using a 32gb card and still have tons of room for more games.
I would definitely recommend this as an alternative to the r4 clones. Not only does it play ds games well, but the fact that it can be updated as needed in the future is a nice feature that those other cards don’t have.

It took a bit of time to get it running because i mistakenly flashed the firmware by following the official installation guide, not realizing it likely came pre-flashed, which turned out to be more complicated than expected. In the end, i found a prebuilt firmware by ansem seeker of darkness (lol), and it worked flawlessly.

Bought the kit that comes with an unbranded 8 gb micro sd. sd already had necessary files on it to get started. i still updated the firmware (easy) anyways as they are making improvements all the time. i already have it loaded up with hundreds of games and a custom theme. it works with ds, ds lite, dsi, 3ds, i tested them all. these all look great in person, but the red one looks especially good with the stickers as they complement each other.

Did not exactly come with instructions so i went to the developer site. I found that there was possibly an updated firmware version and so i was able to copy that and replace the files onto the device. Initially it was not recognized by my 2ds but after another try or two it finally recognized the 2ds. I uploaded some files onto it including a dsi game but the dsi game was not recognized as playable or did not show up onto the menu. It’s relatively new device so i’m sure i’m going to have to keep on tinkering with it. I’m rating it a five because of the price, hardware, and availability of this new development.

This is probably the most exciting thing to happen to the ds flash cart scene in a while. Unlike the underwhelming ez flash parallel from a few years ago and the fantastic but no longer sold carts like the original r4, acekard, ds two and others, we now have a modern flash cart on the market that is not just a cheap r4 clone and is fully open sourced to match. Flashing the updated firmware was simple as plugging in the flash cart to my pc with the micro usb cable and dragging and dropping the firmware file.
Then i just dragged and dropped the necessary files and folders into the sd card along with my backups, and it worked. So functions as advertised, and it’s great to have an open source flash cart at hand after all these years.
In terms of design it looks really nice and i opted to use one the cool shiny stickers included in the package.

What a great flash cartridge. Load times on this are significantly faster than on the dstti clone i was using before, and the fact that this is both foss and based on the rp2040 means it’s super easy to build and flash your own low-level firmware and kernel.
